Dear C. Jane Enjoy It
I don't know if you really read your own email, because from what I saw of your blog I can see you are rather popular. Heck, I was drawn to write you so it speaks for itself. How do I explain why I am writting.
Yesterday my sister (1 of 5) Amber emailed all us other sisters/friends an article "Why I can't stop reading Mormon housewife blogs" by Emily Matchar. Interested as most of my siblings blog along with myself, and of course, are LDS. So as I read I discovered these blogs that are rather popular or at least have what it takes to bring readers back. I decided I wanted to find out what the talk was about. So I went to follow blogs...
Rockstar Diaries, Underaged and Engaged, Say Yes to Hoboken, Nat the Fat Rat, and quite honestly after reading and going through each blog I am guilty of feeling jealous, disappointed in myself for being fat, lack of fashion, and hair that will never look that good when I wake up. Or maybe I was jealous that I never had a life that looked so exciting and interesting as theirs. What do they call that again...self loathing??? See, I don't even come close to the writing they have. I could see why the writer, Emily Matchar and her friends are finding themselves attracted to their blogs, after all...who wouldn't? It's was like wholesome MTV (if that's possible)
After each blog I would go to the next hoping for something that would make me want to see more...something that came closer to my life or at least a life that looks more realistic to me. I was on the edge of tears when I went into Nie Nie Diaglogues and was more familiar with Stephanie's story. I remember seeing the reports on TV and a friend mentioned that she followed this blog. However, what really made me want to stop being on the edge of crying was going into the last blog C. Jane Enjoy It. Maybe I just liked the name because Jane is my middle name...but I started really scrolling down fast....not really reading as I thought it was just like all the other blogs. Then I came to your Vlog, with you and your husband. I loved that you were so real, funny, and I laughed out loud when you were using veg. and fruits to exercise or the exercise that looked like porn but wasn't....LOL! I loved that your husband wasn't anything fancy with his clothes or looks. I hope that does not come off wrong or offends you or your husband it's just that he came closer to looking/acting like my husband.
I was no longer on the verge of tears for being jealous of a life I didn't have, even though my life is great and I should NEVER complain. I just felt like your blog was the one that uplifted me. It came across as real...and you act and look more LDS than what I saw in the other blogs...not that they are bad...and in some ways I am judging them...so I should stop. I just felt connected to your blog and it made me happy again. I read an article where you were interviewed for another blog...about infertility and it touched a nerve.
I am rather friendly and when I meet someone I usually ask enough questions to know about their life or I give enough information that they know about my life. Either way...I'm nosey...(interested) so in all the blogs I visited I wanted to ask the same questions "What do you do for a living that you can shop and live like this, how can you afford clothes, eat out, and live so cool?" I should have also asked how they stay so skinny! When I came to your blog, I didn't care to ask those questions...I just liked who you were...maybe the Vlog helps to see a persons personality...who knows.
All I know is that you made me gain back a relief inside myself, a peace within myself that said "I'm normal with all of it "AS IS". I think you just helped me come up with my own tag line for "My life...happy with AS IS", at least I will make it my tag line because that is how it should be. THANK YOU as I needed this...for me anyway.
Please note: All the blogs that I visited were very good, and interesting...and I really enjoyed reading the article that started the visit to the blogs. I think my problem was that as I went into these blogs I let my own self judge what I never had......a marriage, and children at a younger age. I have no idea how old the author of blog "Nat the Fat Rat" nor do I know the age of the author of "Rockstar Diaries" but I know that I was not so lucky to have there life at their age. Which is my own issue on my own counseling couch...then again..."My life...happy with AS IS"
